Najib menggambarkan aksi tunjuk perasaan itu sebagai rancangan putus asa Anwar untuk memanipulasi rakyat agar mendapatkan sokongan mereka. Ia mengatakan, keadaan Anwar sekarang tersepit di tengah meningkatnya sokongan rakyat terhadap Kerajaan, menyusul berbagai perancangan yang baik mengenai pembangunan ekonomi yang telah dilaksanakan.
Setelah aksi apa yang pihak pembangkang gelar sebagai demonstrasi Bersih pada hari Sabtu itu, Najib, Minggu, harus menjelaskan keadaan sebenar negaranya kepada sekitar 6.000 perwakilan Organisasi Nasional Melayu Bersatu (UMNO).
"Situasi ini menuntut penjelasan jujur kepada anggota parti dan penyokong kami. Mereka ingin tahu kedudukan kerajaan dan sebagai Perdana Menteri dan Presiden UMNO, saya harus menjelaskan masalah ini kepada mereka dengan jelas," katanya sebagai dipetik dari The Star, Isnin (11/7/2011).
Namun, aksi tunjuk perasaan itu tidak membatalkan rancangan kunjungan ke luar negerinya. Hari ini Najib akan berangkat ke Turkmenistan, Inggeris, dan Vatikan. Ia dijadualkan kembali pada 26 Julai.
Ditanya apakah tepat baginya tetap pergi keluar negeri dalam situasi negara sedang bergolak seperti ketika ini? Najib menjawab bahawa dia akan kembali jika situasi menuntut kehadirannya di Malaysia.
"Saya sepanjang waktu berkomunikasi. Tiada masalah jika saya di Turkmenistan atau Kota Kinabalu. Kami selalu boleh membuat keputusan dan mengeluarkan arahan (dari mana saja). Namun, jika memerlukan kehadiran saya, saya boleh naik pesawat dan kembali dalam sekejap," katanya.
